Dorothy Lee Farris, 91, of Boonville, formerly of Bunceton, joined her heavenly father on July 14, 2010. Visitation will be at William Wood Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life following at 2:00 pm, with Marsha Stowell officiating. Interment will be immediately following in Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro, MO.
On February 15, 1919, Dorothy was born the 2nd of 8 children to Lee and Ethel Pharis Childers both of whom preceded her in death. On November 9, 1934, she was joined in matrimonial bliss to James Farris in Moberly, MO whom preceded her in death on December 1, 1980.
Dorothy was a member of the Community of Christ Church, as well as a devout Christian. She will be remembered for her generosity, her kind heart, and her devotion to her family and friends.
She was blessed with the love of eight children, six of whom survive: James of Hermitage; Robert (Margie) of Independence; Jeanne Elliott of Boonville; Patrick (Kerry) of Independence; Stephen (Ellie) of Port Charlotte, FL; Mary Farris; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews cousins, and dearly beloved friends. She is also survived by one sister; Henrietta Huber of Salisbury.
Dorothy was preceded in death by twin sons; Brent Kimberly and Bradley Kent in April, 1956. She was also preceded in death by five sisters: Leatha Baldwin; Pencie Shaw; Hazel Childers; Louise LeGrant; and Georgia (Toby) O’Neal, and one brother, Chester Childers.
